Progressing Investigator Experience!
So we have had some amazing experiences as the new way of administering progressing investigator has changed. This appears to be becoming the new area standard! As the group that first test this change, what feedback do we have to give for those who will do this on Thursday? How can progressing investigator better fit into the plan study teach cycle activity on Thursday? How can the logistics work their way out a little smoother? Now that you have done it once, what will you do differently this next time?
I loved having this new PI. My missionaries have been more invested and more focused on what they are teaching and trying to help. This has also helped them go a lot more at their pace.
ReplyDeleteSome things I will do differently next time-
*I told them in the future they would have the opportunity to teach more than just one investigator so a companionship picked 2 investigators to teach 5 times. While this is awesome, it made PST kind of difficult. In the future I won't tell them about being able to teach other investigators until later.
*For whatever stupid reason, I had them pick out their investigator and then sign up on the calendar before we started PST. This was an awful idea that created a logistical nightmare. Don't do this to yourself.
*Personally- I feel this allows for a much more diverse experience in teaching. In the future I will allow them to pick who and when they teaching but I will ask them to teach everyone at least once so they get the most diverse teaching experience possible. Just as they will be expected to teach one person five times, they will be expected to teach everyone at least once.
*to better Eval their progress in teaching, I would keep teaching notes according to companionship rather than according to investigator. This way you would be able to view their whole experience from the diverse teaching opportunities they have.
Those are my thoughts and opinions. I hope your experiences in this PIE are amazing!

ReplyDeleteOh, PIE!
DeleteI have loved this new way of doing progressing investigator. Only one companionship signed up to teach on the first Friday. The teaching experiences for each investigator were also very evenly distributed. One of the benefits of this new PIE was the clarity of when missionaries were going to teach. They were the ones who signed up for the teaching experiences and for how often they occured. It as been a big success!
I really like this new set up for PI. The biggest difference that I have noticed is how much more invested the missionaries are in their investigators. When they choose who and when to teach, they tend to take preparation a little more seriously.
